Now that shed season is actually here and some people are already finding some, it got me thinking. I started going through all the sheds that I found last year in my head and wondering if I might find some this year from the same deer. There are a couple of bucks that I will be in the back of my mind for sure as I am out searching through the woods. One of which is the buck that I missed early in the season (hopefully he is still alive) and the other is a big 7 point that I have a lot of history with.

The first time I got a picture of this deer was in the summer of 2009. He was a big six with a body like a horse and I immediately became obsessed. I have always wanted to kill a huge 6 point and this guy definitely fit the bill. Well, I hunted that buck extremely hard and never saw him. As a matter of fact, I don't think I even got another picture of that buck all season. When it came time to start hunting sheds in 2010, I thought there was really no chance of finding his sheds since he had pretty much vanished. He proved me wrong and I stumbled upon one of his sheds! It was a really special find. It was almost like that buck knew that I was hunting him and came back to drop his shed and say "I'm still here and you're gonna have to do better than that next time!"

During the 2011 season, we had cameras out all on this property and I wasn't getting any pictures of this buck. As the season went, I always had him in the back of my mind. Until one night, he showed himself in front of one of the cameras. Except this year he was not a 6 point but a big 7. Still I never saw him while on the stand. I think he probably made it through the season and maybe once again, I will be lucky enough to come across one of his sheds.

That is an amazing Buck...imagine him as he fills out just a little bit more. I love these trail cameras. The TV advertisement say they can take go a year on one set of batteries. That's awesome
We have hunted on the same piece of property for 20 years. I have never once found a shed. I have no idea where they go! There is some pretty thick stuff down here in South Georgia and my guess is that they are all in a very nice brier patch somewhere! Good luck!
Hope you find his sheds! We find a shed or two on occasion, but not very often. When we have found them it's when we're not actually shed hunting. Go figure.
