Avian X Decoy

This year we decided to splurge a little bit and invest in a couple of new decoys. The decoys that we bought are called the Avian X decoys and are made by Zink Calls. A couple of months ago was the first time that I had really heard of the Avian X decoys. I first noticed them in a magazine and right away they looked like the most life-like decoys that I had seen (besides a taxidermy mounted decoy). They call these decoys L.C.D., which stands for "Lifelike Collapsible Decoy". There is no doubt that they are lifelike. In order to get the decoy to a life-like state you first have to inflate it by mouth (which isn't as bad as it sounds, maybe ten deep breaths), then close the air valve and set the decoy in the shower under hot water for ten minutes. This process loosens up the exterior rubber shell. The material that these are made of remind of the old rubber balls used in gym class. You know, the heavier ones that you could always throw pretty hard. I really like this material, because being an "inflatable" decoy it is important to have a durable shell. You can deflate the decoy to carry in your turkey vest, but it also comes with a bag for carrying it if you don't want to deflate it. So far I have been pretty impressed by the decoys and plan on using them in the field this weekend. Hopefully with great success. Here is a little promo video of the decoys...
